March has always been special to me — it’s my birth month, and it also falls on Women’s Month. But this year, it hit different. The highlight? Playing at Blackout X: The Boiler Room Experience in MOFFS, Butuan for the 10th anniversary of Earth Hour.
Blackout X was a 2-day event in cooperation with Midnight Rebels, inspired by the iconic Boiler Room setup. It was all about bringing underground music to Butuan — and wow, the city really showed that Butuan can Techno.
I was lucky to be part of the first night, sharing the Blackout X stage with Kobeast, Aftr/Thght, MOFF’s resident DJs — Rey Comiling and Xyrelle, and opening for none other than the EDM King himself, Victor Jao. Of course, with MC Ian behind the mic.

My set was a mix of tribal tech house and a bit of hypnotic techno — probably one of my all-time favorite sets so far in my DJ journey. I never thought I’d fall in love with it as much as I did. Honestly, I’m still not over it and will probably keep talking about this experience forever (LOL).
Of course, I wouldn’t have been there without Midnight Rebels. They’ve trusted me with this opportunity, and I owe them big time. I’ve been a loyal reader of their work, and if you’re in the nightlife industry, you should check them out too — midnightrebels.com.
Here’s a Rebel Broadcast we did during the Blackout X: The Boiler Room Experience.
Playing at MOFFS was also a bucket-list dream checked off. And let me tell you — the hospitality was top-tier. From a stunning stay at Almont Inland Resort, to VIP transport, to incredible food, everything felt so luxe and welcoming. That kind of treatment sets such a high standard — one every DJ deserves.
Then there was the crowd. My first time in a proper Boiler Room setup, my first time diving deeper into underground sound in front of a live audience — and wow, the MOFFS crowd gave me life. Their energy, their openness to the music, their vibe — I LOVED IT. Special shoutout to Jayson Visaya who made my set even more memorable. His aura and passion for music were contagious — I forgot all about being nervous before I played.

That night proved it: Butuan can Techno.
And for me, as a newbie in the industry, this moment will always stay in my heart. Blackout X wasn’t just an event — it was a turning point.
